This course is the second level of standards-based certification available to firefighters. Course materials provide additional information on topics included in the Firefighter I program, and allows the firefighter to participate in certification testing to obtain Firefighter II certification based on NFPA 1001, 2008 edition.
Firefighter II topics include: Incident Command Systems, Firefighter I Skills Review, Utility Emergencies, Firefighter Safety Skills Fire Suppression II, Rescue Skills (formerly Intro to Technical Rescue Skills) Pre-Incident Survey and Prevention/Public Education, Vehicle Rescue Fire Cause Flashover Recognition. Upon successful completion of the Training students will receive NFPA or IFSAC certification as Firefighter I& II.
The purpose of the Fire Officer I course is to provide entry-level fire officers with the knowledge and skills to meet the minimum job performance requirements for fire officers. Fire Officer I candidates must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to function safely and effectively as an integral member of a firefighter team. When engaged in hazardous activities, the Fire Officer I work under direct supervision of a senior company officer and as a team leader.
The purpose of the Fire Officer II (40 Hours) course is to provide officers at the second level of progression with the knowledge and skills to meet the minimum job performance requirements for fire officers. Fire Officer II candidates must demonstrate the depth of knowledge and skills necessary to function under general supervision. A person trained at the Fire Officer II level will function safely and effectively as an integral member of a team of equally or less experienced firefighters to accomplish a series of task.
This Course leads to NFPA or Pro-Board certification. A course specialized for the chief officer who is ready to advance into the upper management level of his/her department. This course consists of subjects designed to give the officer more knowledge of management and administration so that he/she can make basic evaluations of employee relations and assume a more proactive role in their department. This is a projects-based class.
This course leads the student to NFPA or Pro-Board certification. This 40-hour course meets executive management level needs. The course is designed to meet the elements of NFPA 1021, Chapter 7. Fire Officer IV will emphasize management of fire protection services to include human resource management, multi-agency emergency service delivery with horizontal/vertical communication requirements and risk management. There will be group interactive exercises, which will reinforce class lectures.
The goal of this course is to bring personnel to, at a minimum, the recognized Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Hazardous Materials First Responder Awareness Training level (1910.120(q)(6)(i)). Per this legislation, first responders at the awareness level are individuals who are likely to witness or discover a hazardous substance release and who have been trained to initiate an emergency response sequence by notifying the proper authorities of the release. They would take no further action beyond notifying the authorities of the release. First responders at the awareness level shall have sufficient training or have had sufficient experience to objectively demonstrate competency.
This course provides workers with the technical knowledge required to perform at the HAZWOPER First Responder Technician competency level in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120(q). .The course incorporates the Awareness and Operations levels. Hazardous materials technicians are individuals who respond to releases or potential releases for the purpose of stopping the release. They assume a more aggressive role than a first responder at the operations level in that they will approach the point of release in order to plug, patch or otherwise stop the release of a hazardous substance. The course incorporates classroom instruction and hands-on activities to meet competency requirements. This course is designed for the hazards associated with industrial facilities.
